I do not know the advantages of the “Systemd Service” newer, but I’m sure you’re absolutely right that an update of the system can only bring advantages.
My perplexity was due only to the necessary time, and the fear that some HG programs I use to interface with the home automation system could stop working. These programs, have not been made by me, but thanks to the kind help of the very kind Bounz, so in case of problems, I may not be able to properly restore HG.
As for the old settings, (in addition to the HG BK) I have old copies made with Win32 Disk Image, and now I’m using another SD for the new installation.
As for PI Clone, please, do you use it for your PI Backups? With this program is it possible to make reliable card clones via SSH without the need to remove it from the PI?

What source do you install HG v37 from. You have a number of errors showing.

version 37 is the last, downloaded from Github.
Nothing is installed on the SD card. Only Home Genie (and Raspbian Stretch).
Ok. There’s a few versions doing the rounds these days so I was trying to establish exactly what you had.
Firstly a vanilla version of Raspbian Stretch Lite with sudo apt update upgrade.
Next the following

Start HG and configure it for your local use. Do NOT restore any backup yet. Change your port to 8081. DO NOT create a user or a password. You should be able to access the web api without signing in which means HGEB will be able to bind to it.
Create a lighting device. Now attempt to install HGEB and don’t forget to match the IP address and the port to HG IP address and port no.

That’s exactly what I did. Even before restored HG, the symbol at the top right of HGEB remains light gray.
No password set etc… etc… Could it depend on some setting of my router?
@Petediscrete I would like to add that I can connect Heco through UPNP Emulators. But with this solution the problem is that when RPI is restarted, Alexa is no longer able to communicate with the devices. Every time you reboot, you need to delete the devices from Alexa App and do a new search to make them reachable again.
So you can discover the devices in HG. Is that correct
Try stopping any other services that are using Alexa on your LAN. Just have HGEB trying to discover your devices.
@Petediscrete, exactly. I can discover devices via alexa, but not via HGEB.
I can discover the HG devices from Alexa through “UPNP Emulator” which is present in HG Ver.37. The problem with “UPNP Emulator”, is that at every restart of RPI, Alexa stops communicating with the devices. To communicate again I need to delete the HG devices from the Alexa app. and do a new search.
I assume you have UPnP disabled before you install HGEB on HG.
You say this is a clean installation of HG yet errors like the one above are appearing in your logs.
As I suggested earlier, make sure you do a fresh install and DO NOT restore your previous HG backup.
After completing the fresh install of HG, disable UPnP, enable X10 and create one simple X10 device. From there install HGEB make the necessary changes. Reboot your RPI and enable HGEB and run the discovery service.

Obviously, before installation and during the tests with HGHB I LEFT UPNP DISABLED.
As I told you, this is a cool installation of HG, in a new SD Card.
The X10 error, I think it simply derives from the fact that I do not have any X10 device. All my devices are physically connected to RPI via cable and two-way relay. (One for the command and one for the status signal). So in my HG the X10 interface is disabled.
So what devices are you physically using with HG.
I use the push button of the classic home switches (Bticino), which are also connected to the 2-way relay.
As for the interaction between the GPIO that commands the relay and the GPIO that reads the status of the switch, it’s all thanks to Bounz who helped me creating a program to do this…

No need to enable X10 when installing so.
Just follow the instructions I advised in the last post.
The HGEB program was put together by @David_Wallis as you probably know. You may want to message him to see if he could shed any further light on your setup and problem or possibly message @Bounz
I configured my setup as I advised you and the only devices I use in HG are X10 which are discovered by Alexa and working fine.

The service is not binding to port 8099. I assume this relates to the HGEB service. Try change to a different port for both HG and HGEB. Again both port numbers must match to establish a connection.
Try messaging the HGEB author @David_Wallis and see what he makes of your problem. The instructions I provided to you are exactly the same as I used to get the HGEB service working.
If you can open the HG api without having to sign in the HGEB service should connect to HA without a problem.
